Made this simple modern clock using an image I created in PS with Neutra font (an MCM classic) and traced in Easel with the tracing app. After carving I sprayed it with silver spray paint, then ran it through he planer one time. Finished with rosewood oil. Turned out decent. Anyone tried masking wood with painter’s tape, then carving relief, then spraying relief, then removing tape?

I’ve tried the tape, cut, spray method. Never got much past the cut part as te tape got all galled up along the edges of the cut and boogered up on the bit. I prefer the cut, shellac, dry, paint, sand method myself.

And the shellac is to seal the surface so the paint meant only for the relief comes off easier?
