is there a way i can get the zero spot to be the top left corner instead of the bottom left. i want the spindle to go up and to the left when it is done carving and get up and out of the way
Take a look at this if using Easel…may be what you are looking for.

Yes, the quickest way will be to zero of your top left corder of part, jog the spindle 2" further inward/to the left and specify that as your Home Position.
Then in Easel assign the top left corner of your material following coordinates X+2inch and Y-2inch.
However, I either just jog the spindle out of the way after a carve, or use G28/G30.
