Z axis help - Linear slide?

Hi, sorry for a post like this. I’ve search but I’m overwhelmed and unsure of what to do.

My xcarve is just a total pain to use. Had it for 2 years now and the zaxis constantly loosens and is inaccurate. Yesterday I was doing a cut and it put to much strain on the machine. I think the bolts holding the v wheels may have bent. I believe it all needs replacing including the v wheels.

Before I replace them I see a lot of people are buying linear slide z axis assemblies off ebay. I’ve tried reading the threads about this but I’m really unsure what one to buy and what is involved. I’d rather spend a little more and get something that is bolt on and as simple as possible. I don’t need more z travel.

Could anyone please point me in the right direction. I’m sick of this xcarve. Easier to make things the old fashioned way. Really hoping a beefy new z axis will take this headache away. I’d even be willing to pay someone to assemble it all for me and have it top notch ready to go.

Hi Bob, thanks so much for posting that link. That looks like it’s pretty much a bolt on unit?? The threads I’ve seen appear to involve some modifications to the X carriage. Perhaps the popularity of these has spurred on cnc4newbies to create a z slide to bolt on like this.

This looks really simple am I missing something?

Not with that linear Z. It’s basically just bolt on.

Thank you guys for simplifying this for me. Ordering now! Obviously the threads I read were early ones trying to make a generic Z slide fit our machines. This is exactly what I was looking for and the price is really fair. So excited to make my machine awesome.

When you say there is minor mods to make for the suckit dust boot, what exactly are those mods?
