What material for a license plate frame?

I am thinking of making a license plate frame for my niece who is about to get her first car. Would HDPE work well?

What about PVC, it is easier to paint/color. PVC boards are pretty cheap at most big box stores.

I am not sure what the UV resistance is for each of those but that should be a consideration.
PVC boards are used a lot as exterior house trim so I would expect good UV resistance. I snagged see samples from a construction dumpster and it does carve well. Dust collection is a must.

I’d vote for cast acrylic myself. LOTS of colors available, machines well and not very expensive

I did one 1.5 years ago for my son from .25" cast acrylic and it’s holding up well
