I had a good experience a couple of days ago. I thought I would share.
I normally use streight flute wood router bits for working in wood. height=“500”>ut normally when I do 3d stuff I choose ball end mills. But I could not find my 1/4 in ball endmill so I decided to try a 1/4 in cove bit that had about 1/2 cutting length. Worked like a charm using 1/3 stepover at 80ipm.
I wouldn’t choose to use it to go too deep but for roughing out the materal to 1/2 in it worked great. I still used a 1/8 ball endmill for the finishing pass though.
I made the EOD badge at the top of the belt using this method. (its made of pine)
I just thought I share the odd bit I found success with.
