So first off I did a search for this throughout the forums and did not come up with any mention of this, and did not see it mentioned anywhere in the instructions for assembly so if this question has been answered already I apologize in advance. OK on to my question, I have noticed when looking closely at the v-wheels and their bearings that the wheels are not centered perfectly on the bearings. I see that the bearing stands proud on one side about .5 mm (rough guess I did not actually measure it) then the other side. My question is does this difference matter to the assembly other then orientating them all the same way? I looked through all the steps involving v-wheels in the instructions and did not see it mentioned at all so I was just curious if anyone else has seen this or discovered if it matters.
The bearings do stick out at each side of the v-wheel, this is normal. Each bearing is 5mm and there’s a 1mm lip inside the v-wheel making the width of an assembled wheel 11mm. The plastic part of the v-wheel measures 7.5mm.
Yes I understand that, but what I am seeing is that the bearing on one side of the wheel sticks out further then on the other side so when you look at it the wheel its self is actually not directly centered it is offset to 1 side by what I am guessing is .5 mm or so. I attached a drawing of what I mean, I tried to take a picture but its just too hard to see it that way. Sorry for the crudeness of the picture I was in a hurry.
Definitely wrong. The amount that sticks out should be equal.
This is most probably caused by the spacing washer between the two bearings being too thick.
Check the the washer you’re using is 1mm.
It’s is possible you’ve got a faulty v-wheel but if it’s happening on all v-wheels, then I’d blame the washer.
Yes all the wheels look the same, and this is prior to assembly, this is how they all looked coming out of the bag. All my wheels already had the bearings installed, so they came from inventables this way.
I found that on assembly of some of my v-wheels, I had to press the two bearings together very firmly, some just popped in with finger pressure.
I’d call Inventables Support but as it’s the weekend, maybe take one of the v-wheel assemblies apart and check the washer thickness
After reading your reply, I gave them all a good squeeze and noticed a distinct click on most of them, so I am guessing that the bearings just weren’t seated correctly. They appear to be even or close enough. Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated.
