Trying to set up xyz homing switches having issue with x

Hi

I have an older xcarve and trying to set up homing switches…when i start the process it starts with z which works fine…it goes z up to limit actuator and then backs off and back tomactuator to reconfirm and then stops.

And then it proceeds to move x to the left /west towards the limit actuator…once it hits the actuator the machine stops briefly and then moves in y north for a brief moment and then stops

This is not right…

Can someone help me why having issues homing x

Most likely you are experiencing false triggers on the homing switches. The forum has many threads on this subject,

What version software are you using

False triggers?

It is hitting the x actuator…and limit switch is triggering…but its not doing whats its suppose to do

Im doing this via easel …and i have arduino gshield

This is a first time build…new old stock…2015 model 1000mm xcarve

Finished assembly this week

My wires are all hookep up properly…and imtested the gshield where i soldered and there are no bridged solders…tested using multimeter

Did you setup the denouncing in grbl $$ config?

Homing Cycle Steps

By default, the homing cycle goes through the following steps:

Z axis
Z Axis will move up (positive) with Fast Rate ($25)
When Z home switch triggered, Z stop for a short time ($26) and back off a distance ($27)
Z Axis will move up slowly util it touches the Z home switch again ($24)
Z Axis backs off a small distance ($27)
X and Y axis
X, Y Axis move both to Homing direction at fast rate ($25)
The first Axis triggers the switch will stop and wait for the second axis to trigger
When second axis triggers the switch, both axis back off a distance ($27)
Both X and Y axis will move toward switches again slowly, until both switches triggered again ($24)
Both X and Y axis will back off a small distance ($27)

Sorry not familiar with that process at all…also, you say x and y should move at same time during initial easel homing setup?

Mine doesnt do that…my x moves left and y doesnt move…

And not talking about homing cycle im referring to initial homing setup…new install

You can look at these settings in easel under machine setup.

So the easel setup process does not see your x any y limits when they make?

Fyi…im following step bybstep procedure via installation instructions for pre aug2016 xcarve versions at inventables.com…this grbl u refer to is not in the instructions and im not familiar with it

Grbl is the firmware on the Arduino. It is the controller for all of these machines.
Can you get to the machine inspector in Easel?

Y doesnt move as x moves
X moves left hit limit …stops …then moves y north a tad then stops

Ill try and hook up now…give me a min…thanks for helping me

This is the false trigger. Your controller thinks that your Y axis switch is pressed already. (Maybe)

Grbl is the software running on the Arduino.

All the settings for the machine live there. As you run the setup on easel, it’s writing to the Grbl software.

They should move together, at least mine does I have controller and Grbl v1.1f

ok i opened machine inspector

Like i said im not referring to homing cycle…im talking about initial homing setup procedure…are they the same?

I’m not sure. Can you see the status of the switches?
