My upgraded Z axis linear rail has developed some slop in the delrin bushings. Looking for a better solution, I came across the Supergrade Z axis from tbdcnc https://www.tbdcnc.com/shop/supergrade and was wondering if anyone has tested it because I can’t find any reviews. From what I see it looks to be fairly skookum with four block bearings on linear rails. My only concern is the 4 start acme screw is unsupported on the bottom. Nonetheless I ordered it so we’ll see soon.
I have not seen this upgrade, but, for what it’s worth, it’s not unusual for a lead screw to have one end unsupported.
Me neither, but I concur - a floating screw end is of no concern in the RPM-range we operate our Z-stepper at.
All rigidity lies in the profile thickness and the linear rails - they are several magnetudes more rigid than stock.
I rolled my own Z-axis a while back using the same rails and its FIRM
As another option, CNC4Newbie recently released a square linear bearing version:
I ordered one and it’s on the way. A lot of people have gotten this and the quality appears to be great.
