I seem to have run into a problem with the negative power connections. The zip wire used for the fan is quite thick. Then the instructions say to solder the 3 black wires together and insert it in the same terminal. I can’t get them all to fit. Is it ok to use a thinner gauge wire for that connection?
It doesn’t seem it would be a problem, but I thought I’d be sure before powering up for the first time.
There really isn’t THAT much current going through that wire. Especially when you consider the pinch type clamp you are connecting it to.
I had the sam issue and simply added a “pigtail” to the 3 wire connection and capped it with a wire nut.
Then put the other end into the connector and tightened it down. No issues in nearly a year.
I basically did the same. I put two in the terminal, then put an inline connector connecting the third to one of the others. No problems with it.
Thanks for the replies. I didn’t think it would cause problems, but good to know I’m not the only one.
