Option to not return home when job done

Whether the job completes perfectly, or if there’s a problem, it would be nice to have the option for the spindle to raise in Z above the work surface and stay put there. This is in reaction to a piece of plywood bowing upwards after being cut free, and the spindle running into it when traveling home.

hmm i think the problem could be solved by sufficiently clamping the material down I use through bolting myself

Of all the improvements I’d like to see, I’d like to see their manpower used somewhere else. If your plywood is bowing up in the middle of a cut, you should address that. Avoiding the problem isn’t the solution

I like this idea. Sometimes your work piece runs into issues after its done cutting something out. It can be difficult to account for without additional planning, so the option to create an additional safety height when returning home, or the option to stay put after finishing would be great.

Are you Easel user or another software like Vcarve/Meshcam ETC.
If you’re running Vcarve for Gcode, you can modify Post Processor in My_PostP directory.
End of file have return home commands “G0 [XH] [YH]”. if you erase that line, you spindle will rise and stop without any movements.
If you’re running Easel, I don’t know how to do that. I never used.

I’d like for there to be a “get out of the way” button, where it sends the spindle somewhere (like the back corner instead of front corner) so that you can remove your work without slicing your hands on the bit.

But if you’re having trouble with the spindle hitting your work on the way back to 0, try increasing the safety height.
