the image is reversed and the mirror goes in the machine face down. just burning the coating off the back. I could be way off on this but what I think is happening is the coating on the back of the mirror gets hot enough that it transfers the heat to the reflective layer and vaporizes some of it. I chemically removed the coating on a test piece and tried it no workie workie.

I choose no selfies because no one could handle this much awesomeness in one photo lol.

Yes. It is the reflection from the wood it is setting on.
