Anyone with this Makita ever experience speed surging? FWIW, the brushes are fine.
OK, I guess it’s no one else. 
The Makita has a built in circuit for maintaining a constant rpm with varying load. You may have a failing control unit. You can purchase a new control unit for around $30(USA). It takes a long time (2 to 4 weeks) to get it as they come from Japan.

Thanks. I’m in warranty still, but I need to take it 40 minutes away to get serviced.
On its way to Makita now. Will post issue once known for others.

Forgot to update this. Unit returned repaired under warranty. No failure reason given.
