I was curious whether there has been any discussion about replacing the X & Y axis drive belts with lead screw linear stepper motors (such as the ones made by Helix). Would this offer any advantages ? Would it slow down the work ?
Should Invetables want to give this a try on the X-Carve, I would love to offer my services as a Beta tester !
Wouldn’t hold my breath on Inventables ever offering a lead screw drive as a stock option. It just doesn’t make sense in terms of cost, logistics or the market that they seem to be targeting.
Probably true. But I can see them implementing screws on a series of “higher end” hobby machines.
Yes many. There is another thread floating around where they talk about C-Beam and screw drives. Prices were reasonable.
