JTech- Laser detected yet no visible light

Hello, I Installed a Jtech 2W laser to my machine, Everything is hooked up correctly and when I use UGS to send a M03 S1400 command the light indicating use of the laser comes on (Both LED’s are ON) however there is no visible light from the laser itself. Switch it to CW mode also causes Both LED’s to turn on yet still no visible laser light. After fiddling with the focusing ring a laser dot appeared briefly but no matter how much I adjusted it afterwards it would not appear again. Any one have and idea as to what is wrong? Thanks in Advance. Will be watching attentively.

How far is your diode from your work piece? are you using white paper to check for the laser light? Just wondering if you set your grbl laser max to 12000 and if M03 S12000 would actually turn the laser and burn the piece of paper.

But if you switch to CW and there’s still no laser light, you would probably need to adjust the pot (https://jtechphotonics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Instruction-Manual-2W-445nm-Laser-Diode-Component-V6.pdf). Not really sure if you need to do this but when I got my 3.8w, it’s plug and play in both my Marlin-based CNC and x-carve

You can message Jay of @JTechPhotonics. He always respond to messages

Thanks for the response. I used their recommended distance at 1.5 inch on a piece of white paper. and tried max power M03 S12000. If the forums were a no go then I was going to go ahead and email JTech.

The cables were loose in the mini fit connector that came with the mounting kit, After 14 hours of fiddling i got frustrated, thanks for the laser I am really looking forward to using it. sorry.

Ended up using the screw terminal on the driver. Good idea having both options available.

Sorry about that! We test every laser before it leaves the shop with a burn in and power level check, but sometimes the shipping gremlins get into it. Glad you have it figured out. If you have any issues in the future, do not hesitate to contact us! We are available via phone or email. We try to answer customer service emails on the weekend as well.
