my machine was build with a 4 start acme rod on z axis according to the grble wiki $102 should be 47.244094 microstep/mm. since the only options in for acme or threaded rod will this default grbl to the 188.976 for a 2 start acme?
Yes, unfortunately. You’d have to set $102 manually in Universal Gcode Sender after completing the easel.inventables.com/setup walkthrough.

Yes. But Easel won’t change your settings during normal carving, only if you go through the setup walkthrough Easel
