Inkscape help

I am converting a jpg to svg for carving. Unfortunately, the jpg quality is low. I don’t mind cleaning it up but one task is giving me trouble. Three objects are joined together. How do I split them apart?

Let’s see

Draw a box around around where you want the split

Select the box and the text and then use path “Division” to split
