I want to carve wings from G10 fiberglass

I want to carve hydrofoil wings from a 1/2"x8"x30" sheet of G10 fiberglass. I think I need .005" accuracy on the surface contour and hope to do minimal surface finish sanding.

Questions:

  • Does this sound like a good project for X-Carve?
  • Any sense of how long it would take to cut a wing?
  • Which CAM software would be best for cutting wings?

Wow. Nobody’s given you an answer in 4 years!

I make my hydrofoil wings by carving molds in expanded PVC and filling them with carbon fiber and foam. I just found your post looking for information on making stabilizers with G10.
