Hi,
I’m new in this forum and I’m trying to make an SVG file from a jpg file that I imported in Photoshop, than copied that file into Illustrator, and save it as SVG file. Easel does not accept the file.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help!
Tim
Tim,
It appears that you can use some jpg files. I have imported two in the last day and not had a problem.
They were just black and white line images such as a basket ball.
Not tried any others at this point.
I have done this just to try out the import function but will not have time to run on my router until next week after my other commitments are complete.

No need for the Photoshop step.
If you have Illustrator, do the following:
- Open a new file
- File > Place… From the menu
- Choose the image you want to place
- Once it is on the art board, select it and click trace
- use the trace pallet to tweak the tracing options
- black and white or shades of grey work best
- choose to expand the trace once you have it how you want it
- select all and then click Object > Path > Clean Up…
- save your work as an SVG
Or…
Request access to Easel’s apps feature and just do the trace in Easel.
Sorry if I missed something, I am posting this with my phone from memory.
Thanks Sketch42!
It works now. When my machine arrives (and is assembled properly…) I will give it a try.
I will post the result in the forum!
Thanks again,
Tim
