Editing EASEL drawings

Hi I am trying to edit a preformed object in EASEL and can’t figure out how to do it. What I am trying to do is erase part of a preformed triangle or circle. I want to create a template for use with a segment cutting jig. So the angle has to be very accurate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can create a preformed shape such as a square or a circle the size needed to be removed then place it over the area that you want removed from your object then set the depth to zero, then click on both object’s, when selected them edit combine. this will remove whatever was set as zero. this was mentioned by PhilJohnson in Continuing the discussion from Creating complex outlines in inkscape and easel (tutorial):

Thanks Phil. That was a really informative video. Some of it I had figured out already but a lot of it is new to me. Thanks for sharing you knowledge and time with us “new guys”. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the show.

Thanks for the info. After playing with the program for awhile, I figured out just what it was that you were saying and it works wonderful. Wow do I have a lot to learn. Thankfully there is this forum. What a wealth of information here. And helpful people.

Hey Phil, was looking at this video and noticed on the right of the screen some text about WebGL. Did you do anything about that on the computer you are using? I am getting the same message on my computer and came up with nothing to fix it in Chrome.

Any ideas?

Interesting, my cnc computer is a gaming computer running win 10 with no problem. Win Explorer shows the 3D side OK. I prefer Chrome though. Must be something somewhere to add the extension or something. I’ll keep searching and see.

Thanks for the reply.

Strangely enough it does say it’s enabled. This is something new maybe an upgrade to Easel or something did it. I was away most of the summer so not sure exactly when it started.

Browser support for WebGL

Check WebGL - 3D Canvas graphics | Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc to see whether your browser supports WebGL.
Enabling WebGL

If your browser supports WebGL, follow these instructions to enable it:
Chrome

First, enable hardware acceleration:

Go to chrome://settings
Click the + Show advanced settings button
In the System section, ensure the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox is checked (you'll need to relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect)

Then enable WebGL:

Go to chrome://flags
Ensure that Disable WebGL is not activated (you'll need to relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect)

Then inspect the status of WebGL:

Go to chrome://gpu
Inspect the WebGL item in the Graphics Feature Status list. The status will be one of the following:
Hardware accelerated — WebGL is enabled and hardware-accelerated (running on the graphics card).
Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable — WebGL is enabled, but running in software. See here for more info: "For software rendering of WebGL, Chrome uses SwiftShader, a software GL rasterizer."
Unavailable — WebGL is not available in hardware or software.

If the status is not “Hardware accelerated”, then the Problems Detected list (below the the Graphics Feature Status list) may explain why hardware acceleration is unavailable.

If your graphics card/drivers are blacklisted, you can override the blacklist. Warning: this is not recommended! (see blacklists note below). To override the blacklist:

Go to chrome://flags
Activate the Override software rendering list setting (you'll need to relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect)

I did this with Raspberry Pi but it was horribly slow so I turned it back off. When I want to use the WebGL I use my Linux system which runs it without problem.

I’ve tried all the above in chrome settings and it still shows up in Easel. My video card is GeForce 8600 GT and when I launch Easel in Microsoft Edge on the same computer the preview pane shows up fine but all the movements like dragging something on the screen are choppy. I really prefer Chrome but can’t find a solution when everything in the settings are as above.
