Turn off DIP switch 4 for each axis.
wont that shut off each motor
DIP Switch 4 controls auto torque reduction. So when an axis isn’t moving, the driver reference voltage goes to 30% of its value meaning quite a bit of torque is lost. With a super sized machine, and reduced current, you could be introducing chatter and step lost.
I even disabled it on my 1000mm Xcarve and could notice a difference.
thanks that has made a huge difference to the amount of force needed to push the axis, will give it a test carve next and see how it goes
bugga still losing steps when carving though
X controller
I will turn them down to the suggested setting
Could it just be that the belts, given the added length, aren’t properly tensioned?
If I recall some classes I took way too long ago, I believe that strings/belts are length dependent for tension.
think I have them tensioned about right but there is quite a bit of extra stretch to them with the longer lengths
so after doing a whole bunch of kinda unconventional mods chatter is much reduced but is still a bit of an issue
