Can I center text in its own text box and can I type more than a single line per text box.

Text is rendered as a single object unless you use the exploder app on it, so it will just be in its own space. You can select the text object and then select the center coordinates to see where the center is, or you can center align it with another object. You can definitely have more than just a single line of text, simply hit the enter key and it should return to the next line.
