Nope. The G-code is sent in a constant stream to the X-Controller, and the X-Controller actively replies as it receives and executes each command.
Why would you even want to disconnect???
If its a matter of needing to do other tasks, then just let it run the X carve in the background.
My laptop was dying and i had to drive to work to go get my power supply.
