I made a few bottle openers for some friends. I started with this project from Alex Berger Carvey Bottle Opener | Inventables
and modified it a bit. I used a danish oil on 4 of them and a walnut stain on the darker one. I used a 120 grit sandpaper on an orbital sander to get the finish on the aluminum.

Great designs! And excellent job milling the aluminum, it looks very clean.
Any luck actually using those to open bottles? I’ve got one I made at an Inventables booth at a trade show (how I got turned onto the Shapeoko 2) and it is super hit or miss for opening bottles… Rather sad.
Thanks! They seem to do a good job opening bottles but could be tweaked slightly.
The next ones I make will either have s little more radius or I will file a chamfer so it catches more of the lip of cap.
I’ll show the changes on here and whether the changes make it better or not.
